OPCSG has put its weight behind Prostate Cancer Research's (PCR) campaign for national screening for prostate cancer.
The National Screening Committee which advises the government on screening programmes is due to report on prostate cancer screening before the end of 2025. The campaign aims for a targeted screening programme for men at high risk now and investments in better diagnostic tools and AI so that a universal screening programme can be developed as soon as possible.
Keith Jenkins, Chair of OPCSG, has written on behalf of OPCSG to Oxfordshire's seven MPs urging support for the campaign as PCR is trying to build up a group of MPs supportive of the campaign. Three of Oxfordshire's MPs had already signed up. They are Callum Miller (Bicester and Woodstock), Freddy Van Mierlo (Henley and Thame) and Sean Woodcock (Banbury) and Keith thanked them for their support and urged the remaining four to follow suit.
OPCSG is also urging its individual members to write their own MPs who are likely to take more notice of their own constituents.
