What have robots ever done for us? Quite a lot actually!

January 2020

At a packed meeting at Oxford Golf Club, 60 OPCSG members and partners listened to a fascinating talk by Alastair Lamb, Cancer Research UK Clinician Scientist, Senior Fellow in Robotic Surgery & Honorary Consultant Urologist, entitled (with an eye on Monty Python’s Life of Brian) ‘What have robots ever done for us?’   Alastair outlined developments from keyhole surgery to robotic procedures, emphasising how robotic techniques result in reduced blood loss and a quicker return to normal activities.  His detailed account and humorous presentation were much appreciated.  As always, another key element of the meeting was the opportunity for prostate cancer patients to exchange supportive ideas in the many conversations during the evening.  Thanks to Oxford Golf Club for giving us the premises for another brilliant event.
