FUNDRAISING SUCCESSES

Oxford Round Table kindly allowed OPCSG to be one of the two charities collecting at their annual firework display in South Park, Oxford, on 8 November, and the event went with a bang (sorry!).  OPCSG’s wonderful team of collectors battled through poor weather, which improved as the evening went on, and by the time most spectators were heading for home we had raised £1640 through donations in our buckets.  Many, many thanks for this excellent result to collectors Dave Beesley, Don Barker, Diana Bell, Roger Kendal, John and Janet Goldsmith, Basil Wales, Dave Hogg, Jutta Fiford, Hans Hahn, Dave and Jean Hawes, Chris Mason, John Varley, Brian Perry.  And of course to Oxford Round Table for allowing us to participate.

During September Gary Rees (friend of committee members Gwilym and Ruth Mason) and his friends walked a 15 mile route in the Peak District (which seems to have taken in a refreshing number of pubs on the way) and raised £155 as they went, which they have generously donated to OPCSG.  Thank you all!

DO YOU SOMETIMES NEED A TOILET URGENTLY WHEN IN TOWN?

Here’s one small thing that may help – a credit card sized card from PCUK which you can present at cafés, shops etc. if you are in urgent need.  We have got some copies from PCUK and will make them available at group meetings. If you need one now, get in touch and we will send it. Alternatively you can order them for free from PCUK via this link: http://prostatecanceruk.org/.../our.../publications. Scroll down the list of publications to find it.  The wording on the card is: 'I have a medical condition that means I need to use a toilet quickly.  Please can you help?'
