A Happy New Year to all of our members and their families and friends.

Group Meetings

Our next meeting is on Monday 20th January at the usual venue, The Oxford Golf Club, Hill Top Road, Oxford.  Meet at 6.30 for 7pm start.   We are fortunate to have Ann MacEwan who is the Support Group Development Manager of Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK) coming to talk to us.   Ann is a senior member of PCUK and they are in the process of working together with the Prostate Cancer Support Federation, of whom we are members.  We are hoping for a good turnout for this meeting.

The talk will be about PCUK’s in role supporting men and their families living with prostate cancer, the awareness raising element and the services they offer. There will also be examples of the latest literature available from the Federation (Tackle) and PCUK. There will be an opportunity later to talk amongst ourselves with the usual tea and biscuits and the bar will be open. There will be a raffle (any unwanted Christmas presents will be welcome).

Monday 3 March: AGM and the return of Simon Brewster, surgeon at the Churchill, to answer more questions from members. Details of the arrangements for the AGM will be sent out shortly. Don’t forget, we are looking for new faces on the committee – please give this serious consideration.

Monday 14 April: Mark Lodge, Director, International Network for Cancer Treatment and Research, will talk about “Men like us: Prostate Cancer in Developing Countries”.

Monday 2 June: Professor Eila Watson, Brookes University, will return to give an update on the research she is doing with PCa patients.

Sunday 29 June: 2.30 p.m. - River cruise from Abingdon Bridge with jazz and cream tea.

WEBSITE.  Our original website was becoming very much out of date and difficult to use for our purposes. We decided to update the site and thanks to the hard work of our Vice-Chairman, John Grundy, we are pleased to announce that the new site is fully operational.  Take a look for yourselves, opcsg.org and let us have your comments please.

Hoping to see many of you on the 20th,

Best regards,

George Goldsmith
