Annual General Meeting

Monday 11th March at The Oxford Golf Club

For the purpose of clarification of the article in the previous newsletter, we would point out that five nominations for the committee have been received so far. These include the four current officers of the group.

Nominations for additional committee members would be most welcome. Nomination forms were included in the previous newsletter, but if you require a copy, please let me know. Election of the Committee, as defined in Para 5.1 of the constitution, shall take place, with nominations submitted in writing or from the floor, subject to the nominee's agreement.

Message from our Chairman

I hope you can all attend the Quiz night and support the OPCSG Committee Members of whom I am proud to be the Chairman. We do need to strengthen our Team to ease the current workloads with volunteers in all sections as we must continue towards our objectives to support our members and spread awareness.

We are delighted we have updated many of our materials, Banners, Pop Ups, Posters and Leaflets. If you would like to take some to give out, please let us know. We also have Collection Boxes and if you know of anyone in a retail environment who could place one on display, together with a Perspex holder and leaflets, again, please let us know.

The meeting at the Churchill arranged by Charlotte Richards of Cancer Research UK was excellent. Four eminent consultants from the Oncology Unit at the Churchill spoke about the latest developments in research and treatment of prostate cancer. We all learned a great deal and were encouraged by the work that is being carried out. Let's hope we will be able to have more meetings like that in the future with our Churchill Urology teams.

I have joined many associated committees here in Oxford and I have been learning a lot from them and I will be keeping you all informed as appropriate.

David Beesley.

Judy Edwards

We are very sorry to inform you that Judy Edwards passed away on 15th February. Judy, the wife of member Fred Edwards, has been a strong supporter of our group from the very beginning. Judy was a great helper and fund raiser for many people and her enthusiasm was contagious. Amongst other things, Judy asked if she could organise a choral event at Burford to raise funds for us and another charity and without further ado it was all done. A lovely lady, who will be sadly missed.
