Dave and Jean Hawes

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in early 2012 with a Gleason score of 7.  I opted for a prostatectomy in May 2012.

On a follow-up appointment at the Churchill with Rose, the specialist urology nurse, she suggested that on my way out I had a chat with John Goldsmith who had a table in the waiting room with many informative leaflets and also information regarding the Oxfordshire Prostate Cancer Support Group.  After a chat with John we were encouraged to come along to an OPCSG meeting to meet and talk with like-minded people.  This we did and have enjoyed many interesting talks and social events since.

My PSA readings have all been ‘undetectable’ since my operation.

Impressed with the group and the help that we have received from them and also having retired this week (March 2015), Jean and I now feel in a position to join the OPCSG committee.

Since 2017 Dave has served as Treasurer of OPCSG.
